Which season are you here for?

Summer

What Joe does from April to November.

Describe the job and he will tell you right away whether it is his kind of work and when he can come by.

01

Painting and staining

A well-painted house holds for years. The difference is made before the first can is opened: the wood is scraped, washed and primed before any colour goes on.

The same porch and its posts stained an even deep brown, from the ground up to the railing, the lower door stained as well Two-storey home before staining: the porch frame and its posts still in bare pale wood, ladder leaning against the wall BeforeAfter
The porch frame was still bare wood. Now the deep brown runs from the foot of the posts up to the railing.

03

Yard opening and closing

The plough throws gravel into the lawn all winter long. In spring it gets raked out; in fall the yard is closed up before the snow comes back.

See the detail

The same slope completely cleared, green grass showing again under the same window and the same green hose coiled on the wall Thick blanket of orange leaves over the slope at the foot of a dark red house with a white stucco footing, the green hose coiled on the wall BeforeAfter
The same green hose is still coiled on the wall: it is the same slope, a few hours apart.

04

Landscaping

It is the first thing people see when they pull in. A hedge cut straight changes the look of the whole yard.

The same cedar hedge trimmed straight along a mown lawn Bushy, untrimmed cedar hedge in front of a white house, the pole hedge trimmer on the ground BeforeAfter
The cedars were spilling out everywhere. Now they hold their line along the lawn.

05

Concrete, parging and stone

A crumbling stoop, a foundation showing its blocks, slabs sinking into the lawn: it is all the same trade.

The same stoop fully parged, smooth and even, orange cones and buckets alongside Cracked and crumbling concrete stoop in front of a peeling white door, fieldstone wall BeforeAfter
The orange cones and the buckets are still out: the surface has just been smoothed.

Snow removal and roofs

Everything is done with the machine, except the roofs. He does not hand-shovel porches or driveways.

  • Residential driveways with the tractor, Lac de l'Achigan mainly
  • Roofs cleared by shovel
  • The tractor goes out during the storm and again the next morning
The same house, the roof slope completely cleared White house with turquoise shutters under snow, the roof loaded with a thick layer, a big pine in front BeforeAfter
The same house with the turquoise shutters, just a little lighter than before.
The same brown wood house under a blue sky, the big roof slope cleared, a blue car parked in front Brown wood house with two gables under a grey sky, the roof and the eaves heavily loaded with snow BeforeAfter
The sky was grey in the first one; in the other, it is blue and the big slope is clear.
Driveway of a wood home buried under snow, before the tractor's pass The same home, the wood deck cleared and the snowbanks pushed back The shed on the same property, the parking area opened, the tractor's green hood in front The finished driveway up to the deck stairs, tractor tracks in the snow BeforeDeckShedStairs
Before the pass, then the three corners of the property: the deck, the shed seen from the cab, the stairs.
Curved driveway spread with grit in front of a large log house, on a snowy day
Abrasive spread zebra-style: stripes that grip under the tires, without covering the whole driveway.
Joe Blow's two tractors parked in a driveway, fitted with plow and blower, the phone number painted on the cab
This is what will clear your driveway.
